Santa Cruz, La Palma

It was quite stormy as we sailed into the Santa Cruz harbor. Our captain did an excellent job. The sister ship, AidaLuna, had to wait for a long time outside the harbor before docking because the winds and waves were too much. She did manage eventually.
In spite of the stormy, rainy weather, I still took part on a bus tour.... and it was one of the best! One reason was our tour guide, Trix (Beatrix), a German gal originally from Hamburg, since 20 years on the island after a 7 year sail around the world with her husband. She is a preacher and very knowledgable about the islands.... and funny as heck!

On the road toward the national park we had to stop a few times so that the bus drivers could clear rocks from the road that had washed down. The rains were welcomed by the local farmers. We sure didn't let the weather spoil the trip. And our bus driver was also amazing! |
