Funchal, Madeira

On Saturday evening we set off for the island of Madeira, a large island located farther north of the Canary Islands and belonging to Portugal, not Spain. The seas were a bit rough, but not too bad. I caught a rare sunrise (usually I slept too late) and after breakfast it was time for the required sea-emergency excercise.
Then since I had time to kill, I decided to take part on a Segway class!
After that I took a tour bus around the island. Below are just a small sample of my many photos.....

It was a lot of fun and had me grinning from ear to ear. And it was a lot easier to drive then I expected. |

This is only one of the many churches I visited on the trip. Of course they are all decorated for the coming Christmas holiday. |

On the second day in Madeira, instead of taking another tour I took a walk into town again.
the sister ship, AidaBella, arrived and docked across from us |
AidaBella and AidaLuna |
I also took a ride on the cable car up the local mountain.
I watched, but didn't ride, the local "sleigh rides" down the streets to the city below...
