Folklore

For Saturday evening I had booked to attend a folklore event. the place is called "Folklore Garden" and present an all-inklusive evening of Czech singing and dancing plus buffet dinner accompanied by wine, beer, or soft drinks.

A mini-bus picked me up at the hotel. Another couple was already on board and we picked up another lady on our way. It had stopped raining long enough for us to walk from the bus to the roofed garden, and then the rains continued. Our seats were marked according to hotel. I ended up next to the young couple from my bus, who were from Columbia, and a couple from Malta. There were a few American couple's in the audience as well as a delegation from Germany, but most were from Indonesia or China.

In spite of the cold and rain, it was a nice evening.

On Tuesday, my last day in Prague, I once again took a walk through the city, stopping at souvenier shops along the way.  I found a "typical" market on a side street with lots of goodies....

And then I heard folk music! I followed the sound and stumbled upon an open air stage where a group of children were rehearsing a dance.

Then I saw the following poster:

Every day since my arrival there had been international folk performances from 2-10 p.m.! And I missed it! I could have very easily attended it the days before, but I hadn't seen the poster anywhere else, and my tourist booklet said this event takes place in early June! grrrrrr I KNOW I would have enjoyed it!
